Oops
Your eyes are new to this life
Blue steel rocks of curiosity.
I’m too young to be a mother
But the bridge collapses over me.
You have your father’s nose.
Wonder if you’ll blow it like him.
Maturity smacks my innocent face.
A mistake from a stinging whim.
The blame takes us both in our arms
And hugs us until out of breath.
When I told him about your kick
He told me to show you death.
I stared unblinking as a teardrop
Slipped down my cheek and died.
I thought he loved me
But now I know he lied.
I’m glad I went through with it.
I see your breath in the air.
I know I have to give you up,
And to you that’s not fair.
But life isn’t fair anyway.
It’s all a meaningless charade,
But the hope is my heart
You won’t make the mistake I made.
